THIRD SECTOR IN MEXICO AND ACCOUNTABILITY

 

 

Several researchers of Fundar presented results of their research work on transparency, accountability and citizen participation in the 7th Annual Seminar of Research on the Third Sector in Mexico, organized by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi). The Seminar was held in the Rector's Office of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. During this forum, academics and representatives of civil organizations met to discuss, from diverse standing points, the following topics: citizen culture, State and accountability, civil society and democracy, corporative social responsibility, accountability of civil society organizations and recent changes to the regulatory fiscal frameworks of the CSOs.

 

Fundar's researchers participated with the following papers:

 

Norma Lorena Loeza: Applied research and incidence in civil society organizations.

 

Rocio Moreno : Lack of mechanisms for transparency and accountability in oil incomes' surpluses.

 

Mariana Perez: Latin American Index of Budget Transparency: Results for Mexico and regional tendencies.

 

Kristina Pirker : The Public Info rmation Access Law as a tool for social accountability: the PEMEX case in the local development of communities with oil-related activities.

 

Miguel Pulido : Optimizing transparency. The challenge of auditing authorities and reaching access to public interest information produced by private entities.

 

Fundar was present in the event, in the bibliographical exhibition taken place simultaneously to the seminar.
