OPEN SPACE ON THE RADIO

The Mexican Radio Institute (IMER) kindly gave Fundar a space on 660 AM, the “Citizen Radio”, which can be tuned every other Friday from 10 to 11 am. Round tables with specialists are organized for the program, to discuss current events from a social perspective.

The program Open Space works as a platform to establish a dialogue between the public, experts, Executive, Legislative and Judicial Power on our main research topics.

Until today, Fundar has discussed issues such as the militarization of public security and the actions of the National Commission of Human Rights in the cases of Oaxaca and Zongolica, the resource of unconstitutionality launched by the Commission against penalty-free abortions, as well as the opacity and the restraints to information access that prevail in the latter institution.

In addition, we have talked about Fiscal Reform and State Reform, as well as about the right to access private information which is of public interest in cases that are related with the environment.

In this space of Citizen Radio, we have invited government officials from the Federal Institute of Public Information Access (IFAI), deputies and members of civil society organizations, and also academic centers; we have talked with officials, for example, from the Federal Health Ministry. The program has special sections of news, stories and editorials, besides the schedule of all the events summoned by civil society organizations.

During the transmissions, Fundar gives books and publications to the public that participates, and which have been of much interest.
