FUNDAR SHARES AND PROMOTES EXPERIENCES AND PRACTICES OF STRATEGIC LITIGATION

 

On November 27th, 2007, the Diploma program on Practical Defense of Human Rights successfully came to an end. It was organized by the team of Strategic Litigation and Human Rights of Fundar, along with the National Supreme Court of Justice, through the House of Legal Culture “Minister Teofilo Olea y Leyva” of Morelos and with the Mexican Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations. This Diploma course took place in the facilities of the House of Legal Culture of Morelos, in Cuernavaca , Morelos from June 1st to November 27th, in three-hour-sessions on Fridays and Saturdays. A total of 45 people participated, mainly litigant lawyers, but also Law students, staff of the State Commission of Human Rights, members of the Local Judicial Power and of non-governmental organizations.

 

It was the second Diploma course organized by Fundar on the topic, only this time it was more practically focused. Even though it sought to transmit a theoretical framework of national and international human rights' Law, the participants had to solve practical cases, elaborate litigating strategies and participate in a mock trial before the Inter American Human Rights' Court.

 

In addition, from December 3rd to the 7th, 2007, the Iberoamerican University 's Program on Human Rights organized its fourth course. The team of the Project on Strategic Litigation and Human Rights of Fundar participated in the Panel on Litigation of Practical Cases, where it shared with the audience the experience of the project in some national and international strategic litigation which it has launched.
