FIRST RESULTS OF THE STRENGTHENING
OF CIVIL SOCIETY PROCESS

Fundar collaborates with regional civil society organizations and academic institutions through academic presentations, training workshops, guidance and contact with media, in order to strengthen capacities for analysis and positioning of mutual subjects of interest.

This was the case of the press conference held along with ASER, A.C., in which the results of the research about the Human Rights Commission in Veracruz were made public. As part of this scenario, Fundar demanded that the state’s authorities deliver all investigations carried out on the case of Ernestina Ascencio, in Zongolica, due to the contradictions between the versions of local officials, federal authorities and the military.

In collaboration with the organization called Sonora Ciudadana, the situation of Human Rights in the state is supervised, because the state has the highest level of domestic violence, according to a 2003 study.

Next September, Fundar will present the document titled “Applied research and policy-changing in Civil Society Organizations”, at the Seminar on Research about the Third Sector, launched by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy and the Metropolitan Autonomous University.

In other matters, Fundar gathered with several civil organizations to analyze the impact of new taxes and, consequently, generate proposals for legislative changes. As of consulting and training activities throughout the country, it is important to mention that early this year a workshop for presenting the project “Macroeconomics and Human Rights” was held, and in which activists and academics from Mexico, the United States, the United Kingdom, India and South Africa participated.
